William "Sonny" Marvin Lester

William Marvin Lester, 88, of Dinwiddie, VA passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Mr. Lester began working at Progress Index as a teenager and worked his way up through the company. William was a retired Independent Allstate Agent after many years of dedicated service. Following his retirement from Allstate, he went on to continue to serve his community by joining the staff of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. He was a lifetime member of West End Baptist Church where he had been the President of the Titmus Bible Class. Mr. Lester is survived by his wife, Elinor Jones Lester; three children, William E. Lester, Sr. (Rosemary), Charles R. Lester, Sr. (Lorraine) and Pamela L. Rose (James); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Lester Panill; and beloved friend and faithful caregiver, Norma Walker. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Southlawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Tim Brendle, officiating. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
