William Arthur Lovelady

William "Billy" Arthur Lovelady, 80, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Born in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of the late Walter and Edna Lovelady; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Walter "Buddy" Lovelady, Jr. Billy faithfully served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 until 1967 during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Navy he served on the U.S.S. Saratoga and the U.S.S. Stormes. He retired as a machinist from Alcoa Metals (formerly Reynolds Metals) after 30 plus years of dedicated service. Billy was a longtime dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Barker Lovelady; his children, Suzanne Martin (Debbie), Cindy Cummings (Greg), Scott Lovelady (Patty), Tracy Anderson (Billy), Christina Johnson (Mark), and April Gonzalez-Jamison; grandchildren, Quinton, Daniel, Zachary, Taylor, Jessica, Josh, Jake, Angelo, and Elisia; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ely, Jason, Brantley, A.J., Jackson, Carter, and Eloise; his twin brother, James "Jimmy" Lovelady (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow immediately afterwards in Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1107 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA 23860 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 2151, Memphis, TN 38101 in memory of William "Billy" Lovelady.
