William Ashby Maitland

William Ashby Maitland, 77, of Petersburg, passed away on February 5, 2014. Born in Dinwiddie, VA, he was the son of the late Thomas Ashby and Hilda Gordon Maitland. Mr. Maitland was a United States Air Force veteran, and was the owner and operator of Bill Maitland Painting Company for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Carol Maitland; three daughters, Kristie Maitland and Greg Jones, Tracy Maitland and Kevin Elder, and Billie C. Maitland Garner and husband, Dwayne; one son, Mike Thomas; and three grandchildren, Courtney Ayscue, Dylan Gibbs and Karlie Jones. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Braunda Ridley, officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery.
