William James Mayfield

Master Sergeant William J. Mayfield, 68 of Hopewell, passed away on Monday March 14, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Katherine Bell Mayfield; his brother, Earl Mayfield; and his step brothers, Rick and Bobby Quarrick. William retired from the United States Navy and served two tours during the Vietnam War. He received many service awards and medals during his service to include a Purple Heart. He is survived by his loving companion of 27 years, Sun HWA Rykken; his daughter, Samantha Mayfield; granddaughters, Alexandra and Sabrina Dziak; brother, John Mayfield (Kathy); sisters, Linda Miller(Rick), Joyce Matuszewski (Vince), Billie Dunkard (Glen Parker); step mother, Barbara Mayfield; step sisters, Joanne Altomonte, Lisa Nickelson (Bob); step brothers, Bill Quarrick (Tracy), Chris Quarrick (Sandy), Mark Quarrick (Melinda); and many loving nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
