William F. McCollum, 83, of Prince George, formerly of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012. He was the son of the late Franklin E. and Ethel Southerland McCollum. Mr. McCollum retired after serving his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army. He then served 20 years of civil service in the food service industry. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, being at the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. McCollum is preceded in death by his loving wife Pauline Suess McCollum; brother, Pat McCollum.
He is survived by his daughter, Uta Whitby and her husband Samuel; grandsons, David R.Whitby and his wife Angelique, and Tyler B. Whitby; sister in law, June McCollum; cousins, Betty and Howard Thore, Gunner McDaniel, JoAnn and Ralph McCulley, Kathleen Volk, Elizabeth and Jim Thompson; and other family and friends. A memorial service will be held 12pm on Monday, August 20, 2012 with a visitation to be held one hour prior at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
