William Lee Moats, 46, of Carson, Virginia, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2009. He was a long time employee of Heritage Chevrolet as manager of the parts department, as well as a member of the GM Parts and Service Club. Mr. Moats enjoyed drag racing at Virginia Motorsports Park, as well as playing roller hockey and refereeing at Shooters. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Ruth L. Moats; children, LCPL William L. Moats, II, USMC of Cherry Point, NC and his fiancée, Samantha Adato, Sarah A. Moats and Zachary A. J. Moats, both of Carson; sisters, Monika Brewster of Mechanicsville, Loretta Smith of Chesterfield and Pamela Picha and husband, Eric of Chester; parents, William R. and Anna Moats of Petersburg; father-in-law, William Lovorn and wife, Lupita of Mebane, NC; and nephews, Aaron & Brett Brewster, Kyle Montgomery and Alan Smith. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, February 15, at the Chesterfield chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 South Sycamore St., Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
