William Powell, 81, of Disputanta, son of the late William W. and Maude Melton Powell, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006. A native of Simsboro, LA, Mr. Powell had lived in Prince George County since 1954. He retired from Commonwealth Natural Gas after 29 years of employment as Superintendent of the Transmission Department, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 52 years and a member of the Disputanta Ruritan Club. An outdoorsman, avid fisherman and hunter, he was a former member of the New Bo Hunt Club for many years and was presently a member of the Devil?s Garden Hunt Club. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his son, William R. ?Billy Bob? Powell, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Audrey L. Powell; daughter-in-law, Harriette B. Womack and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Robert William Powell and wife, Ashley and Lisa P. Cole and husband, Femi; great-grandchildren, Taylor L. Powell, Shelby M. Powell and Madeline E. Cole all of Haymarket, VA; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM Sunday, April 2 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
