William â??Willieâ? Royal Spain, 52, a native of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 after a brief stay in Beth Sholom Home, Richmond, Virginia. Willie was the son of the late Richard Samuel â??Samâ? Spain and Etta Leora â??Leeâ? Spain of Petersburg, Virginia. After relocation in 1991 with family, he resided in Hanover, Williamsburg, and Goochland, Virginia. While living in the Petersburg area, Willie graduated the Special Education Program from Petersburg High School and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Born with Downâ??s syndrome, Willieâ??s warmth and love for his fellowman touched all whom he encountered. He met all of his challenges with tenacity and faith, enjoying life and inspiring others along the way. William is survived by his sister, Vanessa Spain Perdue and brother-in-law, Russell R. Perdue, Jr., brother, Richard Samuel Spain, III and sister-in-law, Sharon Lopresti Spain, nieces, Kara Anne Perdue and Keely Elisa Perdue, nephew, Grayson Cole Spain, and great-nephew, Christopher Aiden Beville, as well as numerous cousins, friends, and family. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who encountered and worked with Willie throughout his life and especially those who walked with him through his last months and days prior to his beginning his eternal life. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 7th at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia with Rev. Robert Livesay officiating. Condolences may be registered at
