William Preston "Wolf" Stamper, Jr., 76, peacefully departed this life surrounded by family on September 21, 2023. William was preceded in death by his parents, William P. Stamper, Sr., and Frances Pickett Stamper; and his sister, Brenda Light. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carolyn Ann Stamper; children, Eryck Stamper, Heather Bradick, Michelle Quillen (Michael), and John R. Williams III (Gail); grandchildren, Simon Holmes, Ashley Holmes, Aiyanna Stamper, Jennifer Jenkins, Whitney Jenkins, River Quillen, Ashby Quillen, and Aubrianna Quillen; sisters, Cora Melton and Mary Causey (Mike); and brother, James D. Stamper (Luanne). Wolf was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. After returning home he went on to work at Hercules Chemical Plant as a Millwright for over 30 years. He was an active member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church serving as a Deacon of the church. He was a member of the VFW and served as Commander of many posts and Chaplain. He enjoyed motorcycles, wolf figurines, antiques, and he collected coins. He was a loving husband and family provider. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel. Interment will follow immediately at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
