William “Billy” Armstrong Young, Jr., 81, died on Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was born March 24, 1939 and was a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Armstrong Young (Ercelle and Willie). He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Wayne Young. Billy attended Dinwiddie High School and John Tyler Community College, where he received his Machinist Credentials. He worked for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company and retired from Honeywell as a machinist. He held patents on innovational machine parts in which he received several awards. Billy was known as the community repairman and “fixer” of things. He especially loved restoring, collecting, and working on old tractors. Billy also enjoyed “beekeeping” and the companionship of his faithful cat, Hannah Mae. He was in the Army National Guard for many years and a member of The American Legion and Eagles. Billy is survived by the love of his life, Rose Marie Tarr; Sister, Jayne Young Feminella; nieces, Dr. Noel Feminella Ockaili (Ramzi) and Joy Feminella Wright (Daniel); great nieces, Isabella Grace Ockaili and Hannah Joy Ockaili. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. with The Revs. Brian and Jeaux Simmons, Pastors of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating.
