William Loyal Young

William L. Young, 78, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Howard Young and Eleanor Bowman Young. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Rose Young; sister, Louise Berger; and nephew, Michael Meredith.
He is survived by his son, William “Johnny” Young and his wife, Brenda; granddaughter and his “baby”, Kaylyn Young; special cousins, Charlie Moore and Clarence Joyner; and best friend, Everett Cleaton and his wife Maggie.
William Young worked for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. for 25 years. He went on to work for Electrolux as Regional Service Manager for many years. But most of all, he was a life-long farmer and enjoyed it.
He was a faithful member and Trustee of Crawford UMC. He had a big heart and loved giving. He enjoyed being active with the Dinwiddie Food Bank and Social Services, especially helping with the Christmas Sharing program every year.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Dinwiddie Ruritan Club, 15610 Courthouse Rd., Dinwiddie, VA 23841. The family will receive friends following the service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be donated to Christmas Sharing or to your local food bank—William’s desire was to never see a child go without.
