Wilson Samuel Russell, 85, of Chester, Va., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7th at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center of Richmond. Wilson was born on March 25, 1932 in Roanoke, VA, the son of the late Raymond Samuel Russell and Reva Hogan Motley; and was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Russell; and his brother, Kenneth Motley. He was a devoted and loving husband to his high school sweet heart, Margaret Eggleston Russell (1934-2017) for 66 years. After high school he served in the US Army before entering a career with C&P Telephone Co and retired from AT&T in 1992. Wilson was a dedicated father to their three children, who were very blessed to have him as their father. Wilson is survived by his three children, Robert Russell (Rhonda) of Stuarts Draft, VA; David Russell (Gayle) of Mooresville, NC; Sue Blazek (Glenn) of Slidell, LA; his 7 grandchildren, Rebekah Ferrin (Nathan); Daniel Blazek; Stephen Russell (Heather); Sarah Blazek; Andrew Russell (Brittney); Matthew Russell (Kristen); Nathan Russell, 7 great grandchildren, and his sister Charlene Roberts. The Russell family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center of Richmond VA for the exceptional loving care provided to our Dad for the past year. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday March 10, 2018 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation
