Wilton Lewis Goodwin, 89, of Hopewell, died, Tuesday, April 20, 2004 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Victoria, Va. and was a resident of this area most of his life. Mr. Goodwin served in the U.S. Army duringWWll. During his early years, he worked with his father at Goodwin Plumbing Company and later retired as a equipment specialist at Ft. Lee. Until his death he operated a Income Tax office in his home for the past 25 years. Mr Goodwin served as a volunteer at McGuire VA Hospital since 1945 and attended the Church Of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in Prince George. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Bell and Sadie Hunt Goodwin and his son, Gerald F. Goodwin. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Ballard Goodwin of Hopewell, a daughter, Joyce G. Hopkins and husband Tom, Jr. of Hopewell, two sons, William Lewis Goodwin and wife Helene of Enon, James Ballard Goodwin of Chesterfield and daughter-in-law, Mildred C. Goodwin, of Enon , eleven grandchildren, 19great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, April 22, 2004 from 7-8 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11AM April 23,2004 in the Appomattox Cemetery with Mr. Chris Johnson of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints officiating.
