Yong Merrick

Yong Cha Merrick, age 72, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at her daughterâ??s residence in Dinwiddie County. Born in Seoul, Korea, she moved to the United States in November 1963 following her marriage to a military serviceman. Mrs. Merrick proudly became a U. S. citizen shortly after moving to the states. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was active in organizing and fundraising for new churches. She helped form Korean Baptist churches in Panama City, Fl and Prince George, VA. She was currently an active member of the First Assembly of God in Petersburg. Yong is survived by her daughters, Margie L. Andrews and her husband, Harry E. Andrews, Jr. and Keddy A. Harrison and her husband, Bruce E. Harrison; grandchildren, Bruce E. Harrison, Jr., Brittney Harrison, Kandyce Davis, Daniel Davis, Justine Wilson and Matthew Wilson; great-grandchildren, J.J. McCall, Kaimee Ann Harrison and Karina Davis. All services will be private.
