In conjunction with the way you lay your loved one to rest, it's important to know your options for services.
While funerals come in many shapes and sizes, most times a casket is present for a funeral. Every bit of funerals are personal to the family, so they get to decide when the casket closes, whether there is a public procession, who their officiant is, and more. Often during funerals there will be songs, eulogies, a message to the attendees, and any religious rites performed. While it is popular to immediately go in procession to the cemetery for the committal after the service, families can choose a private interment instead. Talk to you funeral director about your preferences.
Memorial services can also look very different, but typically the casket is not present or available for viewing. Sometimes there's an order of service, but there could also be a time for anyone to speak instead. You may have also heard the phrase "Celebration of Life," and that is also similar to a memorial service.
